You Have Questions, We Have Answers!

Many of our regular Festival friends have been asking some really great questions about this year’s UnFestival, so we wanted to take a minute to answer a few of the most common questions we’ve been seeing.

Is The Scandinavian Festival Still Happening?

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the usual Scandinavian Festival, but we are still doing many things to try to bring some Festival fun to our summer with the Scandinavian UnFestival!

What is the UnFestival?

We were all disappointed with the decision that we eventually had to make in cancelling our annual Scandinavian Festival. But that didn’t mean we wanted the year to go by without a little Festival fun! That’s where we came up with the idea of UnFestival, although it seems like many other events have taken on this cheeky description as well! We brainstormed all the ways we could still have a little fun, from the comfort of our own homes, and landed on a few ideas we think you will love as much as we do! We’re still publishing our annual magazine, which you can pre-order on our Festival at Home webpage, and donate to the publication as well!

Along with the magazine, we’ll be doing fun activities on our Facebook and Instagram and you might even see a few videos from… wait for it… our very own YouTube channel! Be sure to check our Facebook, Instagram and website often to be updated on when our videos release!

How Can I Support the Festival This Year?

We’ve had an amazing fundraiser set up by one of our Festival Friends where you can find some awesome Festival themed shirts and mugs. All profits go to the Scandinavian Festival. Fundraiser ends September 13th, 2020.

We also just announced our annual Membership thank you reward – UnFestival themed button/badges that you can sport this summer in support of our #UnFestival celebration. Find out how to become a member on our Membership sign up page.

Why Don’t the Food Vendors Set Up as Mobile Food Carts or Offer Delivery?

Unfortunately, we were not able to figure out a way for our vendors to have their booths in other locations, though it was something we tried hard to do. As most booths aren’t set up as actual mobile food carts (with self-contained water and wastewater tanks or even their own electricity) it would be extremely difficult to find a space that had those hook ups. Each year the Festival sets up an intricate network of these utilities in the closed streets of Junction City for our vendors so that they don’t have invest their money in those things, but most regular places of business do not have this ability. Many of the vendors were also concerned about not being able to properly social distance within their booths, especially with the number of people it takes to man such busy booths. We’re just as sad as our community to not be able to enjoy these delicious foods!

It boils down to this: we’re all disappointed we won’t be gathering for Festival this year, but we will be doing what we can to enjoy what makes our Festival the wonderful thing it is – our community! We’ll be celebrating a little differently, together and yet apart.

Stay connected to us on Facebook, Instagram, and our website so we can see what you’re up to, too!
