Light  Parade  &   Yule   Fest

Community   Involvement

Every December our town lines up in a radiant display of togetherness. Hours of work go into decorating floats that show what is important to us and what we think our fellow neighbors might value too. The individuals who participate in the Light Parade show how they contribute and invest into our small town. There are many groups, clubs, organizations, associations, small businesses, family businesses, etc. that coexist in the place we all claim as home. The Junction City Scandinavian Festival is proud to be amongst our community members, walking in the cold and sometimes rain with the purpose of keeping the town lively. All of us who give back to this town helps shape its identity, and we (the Scandinavian Festival) like to think we lend our fair share to Junction City’s personality.

Yule  Fest

The Scandinavian Festival is operated 100% by volunteers and love to see others be involved and love our town’s heritage like we do. It’s hard work, but we like to keep it playful with good food, music and lots of dancing. Speaking of all those things, directly after the Light Parade there is a Yule Fest held at Gale Fletchall Hall, which is the big white building decorated with Scandinavian flags, on 7th and Greenwood. We celebrate the night with concessions, community dance and music of course. The festivities go until 10p.m. Dancing and a hot beverage is such a nice way to warm up after walking, or dancing in the Light Parade.
The Scandinavian Festival is such a nice way to make connections within the community and it can lead to wonderful friendships. Please join us for the Yule Fest, or volunteer with us during the year. There are so many ways to be involved.
