The Junction City Scandinavian Festival has many great traditions, from music to food, entertainment to crafts, and costumes to artwork.

One particular artist of note is the 2018 recipient of the Festival’s Distinguished Service Award, Jeanne Simpson. Jeanne has been a member of the Junction City Art Association for nearly a decade and, in that time, has become a wonderful friend of ours.

She’s been more than generous with her time and talent over the years, and it shows in the murals and booths she’s painted. In 2016, Jeanne created a large mural for the Festival. In 2017, she painted our annual Danish Royal Christmas Plate.

As an accomplished portrait artist, Jeanne has recently ventured into creating steampunk creations. You’ll see her artistry on display both with J.C. Art Association in the Art Building as well as throughout the Festival.
