2024 Silver tier
community Partners

This year, the Junction City Scandinavian Festival Association and the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation had the opportunity to merge and form one entity. The two organizations share a common mission, lending to consolidation under the name, Scandinavian Cultural Foundation of Junction City, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This transition will support both organization’s missions and allows for a bright future.

Beyond the preservation of Scandinavian culture and heritage, the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation (SCF) has always endeavored to support the community. Their main event, the Junction City Scandinavian Festival has been able to support nonprofits and youth fundraisers, annually giving approximately $20,000 through service opportunities at the Festival and other events throughout the year.

SCF’s desire to continue its year-round events, including the Scandinavian Festival, is a passion project. The Foundation has hosted many other workshops and events like sewing and cooking classes, movies in the park, and the annual benefit auction.

Support from Community Partners helps the SCF ensure the longevity of the Foundation and its mission, and in part secures the future identity of the Scandinavian roots of Junction City. Monetary donations, products, or services will help with infrastructure and operational needs. Support from Community Partners aids in preservation and maintenance of the SCF’s mission. With humility and gratitude, we ask for your consideration to join us as a Community Partner.

We are so thankful for those who have chosen to support us in our goals. Please take a moment to get to know these businesses and how they’ve helped with their contributions.

The Advanced Veneer Processing technology and quality products are known to many in the local area. When the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation reached out for assistance about decking our two main stages, Eagle Plywood Specialties, Inc. delivered. They matched their reputation for quality products with charitable character. The AC plywood decking serving as our performance surface at Festival Park Stage and The Mall Platform were graciously donated by Eagle Plywood Specialties, Inc. The previous decking was well beyond its years and overdue for replacement. We could not have made this improvement without support. A big thank you to Eagle Plywood Specialties, Inc. for becoming a Silver Tier Community Partner and helping us provide a better experience for all the performers and community members who use the stages.

If you’ve looked at recent year’s magazines or the Scandinavian Festival’s website, you’ve seen the work of Katelyn LeGrone of KHL Photography. Our magazine and website would not look nearly as beautiful as it does if not for her photo contributions. Each year Katelyn sits in the hot sun for hours on end, photographing our dancers, musicians, demonstrators, storytellers, and more. She works hard to get dynamic photos then spends countless hours editing the photos. Each year she is so generous with sharing her photos so that our community can reminisce about the past year’s exciting entertainment. If you see a photo you love, consider purchasing one or two from KHL photography. You can find the photographs on her Facebook.

Support the Festival, Buy a Shirt! Each year the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation partners with West River Printing Company to sell a Limited Edition commemorative shirt that can only be purchased during the Scandinavian Festival. This design will be made to order, right in front of you! Husband and wife team, Garrett and Jessica Pratt, own and operate their screenprinting business, West River Printing Company, and have been working with the Scandinavian Festival for a number of years on different projects. Most noticeable is the souvenir booth where these fun shirts and other items are sold, which directly benefit the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation. This year’s limited shirt design features a map of the Nordic countries that are celebrated at the Junction City Scandinavian Festival. This design was created by Jessica Pratt, and will be live printed during the Festival by Garret Pratt. The team at West River Printing Co. have been such a support to the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation and we are proud to have them as Silver Tier Community Partner.

Since 1964 there has been a Viking presence at the Junction City Scandinavian Festival. A few years ago, an idea to form a Viking Village was suggested. This area would provide a space for Viking vendors and create a small footprint for this era of Scandinavian culture. Last year, we decided it was time to make the shift and bring that idea out of hibernation. Envisioning the joy a new space would bring visitors, the volunteers desired a statement for the new village. The feature we needed came in the form of a wooden entrance of Norse style arches. It takes a lot to ask for help, but we knew to make this project complete we would need assistance from our community. We reached out to a local company, Hull-Oakes Lumber Company with our plans. To our immense relief and gratitude, Hull-Oakes graciously donated the needed rough-cut timber for the archways. Thank you Hull-Oakes for partnering with us!

Pape Rents is our newest Community Partnership. Since December 2024, Pape has graciously donated the use of equipment to help the SCF host cultural and educational events for our local community. This coming Yule Fest the SCF will display a tree lighting and will deck the halls with lots of holiday lights. This was made easier by the donation of a scissor lift by Pape. Thank you for your support!
